- Contribute to the design and development of distributed data pipelines and scalable APIs that process billions of records.
- Define patterns for building and operating microservices to support high-throughput and low-latency requirements.
- Build robust observability and testing practices, ensuring high availability (99.9%+ uptime) and SOC 2 readiness.
Collaboration & Growth
- Partner with Product to translate customer needs into clear technical designs and deliverables.
- Mentor engineers across the team, fostering technical growth and preparing to scale a team as the company grows.
- Support Sales conversations by providing technical expertise in customer conversations.
- Contribute to thought leadership through documentation, internal talks, and external presentations or publications.
Requirements
- Proven experience architecting and delivering large-scale data platforms and distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in both real-time (streaming) and batch data processing.
- Mastery of backend technologies: Java, Scala, or Go; REST APIs and microservices.
- Strong depth working with large data processing tools such as Spark, EMR, or MapReduce.
- Expert in NoSQL (e.g., ClickHouse, Scylla, Cassandra) and RDBMS (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, Aurora) at scale.
- Strong understanding of AWS and cloud-native architectures, including containerization (ECS/Kubernetes), IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Skilled in building resilient, observable systems with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing.
- Experience designing and evolving identity-related or graph-based data models is a strong plus.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to write clear documentation, diagrams, and presentations.
- Experience scaling teams and mentoring engineers preferred.
- Ability to reason about identity resolution, entity matching, and graph-based data at scale.
- Strong quantitative and analytical reasoning skills, with enough mathematical foundation to design and evaluate complex identity graphing systems.

About the Role:
Fideo Intelligence transforms massive datasets into real-time fraud-detection insights that protect people and organizations worldwide. As our Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll own the end-to-end reliability and performance of Fideo’s real-time fraud-detection backbone. You’ll spend half your time architecting, securing, and operating our AWS environments, and half your time as a backend engineer building and optimizing microservices. Your work directly impacts our ability to process millions of events per day with sub-100 ms latency, maintain SOC 2 controls, and stay ahead of emerging threats.
You’ll drive AWS best practices, designing VPCs, IAM policies, networking, and container platforms (EKS/ECS), to ensure high availability and airtight security. You’ll lead vulnerability assessments, patch cycles and compliance initiatives, documenting controls and guiding audits to keep us SOC 2 ready.
On the code side, you’ll design, implement and tune Java microservices that power our streaming pipelines and customer-facing APIs. You’ll identify hotspots, refactor for scale, and instrument services with metrics, logs, and distributed tracing, turning data into actionable insights on demand.
Working on a tight-knit team of five engineers, you’ll wear multiple hats: automating CI/CD, defining SLIs/SLOs, responding to incidents, and evolving our observability framework. You’ll partner with product, data, and security leads to translate requirements into resilient, high-throughput systems, and mentor peers in both SRE and backend best practices.
Ideal Candidate:
Our ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who is passionate about building reliable systems and thrives in high-performance environments. You are naturally curious, enjoy deep dives into complex problems, and excel at identifying and resolving issues in real-time systems. You are fluent in DevOps and AWS, and you seamlessly flex between operations and backend development to ensure our systems achieve and maintain high availability. You relish working on a small, agile team (we are five engineers) and wearing many hats to design, build, and operate scalable, resilient infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities:
- Real-Time Pipelines & Streaming
- Design and optimize low-latency, high-throughput data systems (Kafka, Scylla, MySQL)
- Maintain and enhance data ingestion/delivery systems
- Microservices & APIs
- Develop scalable, fault-tolerant services (Java, predominantly) handling thousands of RPS
- Profile, refactor and tune for latency, resource utilization and horizontal scaling
- Design, document and conduct disaster recovery reliability testing
- Cloud, Security & Compliance
- Architect, deploy and maintain AWS (ECS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, RDS) tracking in Terraform
- Lead security: vulnerability remediation, patch management, least-privilege policies
- Drive SOC 2 compliance: implement controls, support audits, document processes
- Reliability & Automation
- Define SLIs/SLOs; onboard services into observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ZenDuty)
- Build CI/CD pipelines (GitActions, Docker), runbooks, and self-healing mechanisms
- Diagnose and resolve incidents; conduct blameless postmortems
- Collaboration & Documentation
- Partner with product, data, and security teams on architecture and feature delivery
- Mentor peers in SRE best practices and backend clean-code principles
- Document systems, workflows, and drive continuous process improvements
